| Review Summary |
This isn't serious, mind-numbing science-fiction, but a fun piece of someone's imagination that entertains. In a far-fetched (albeit lovable) future, people must all be renewed, death in our terms, at the age of 30. Sandmen like Logan chase and kill the 'runners' who won't accept renewal. Fortunately for us science-fiction can't run business without the lifeforce of an ordinary man versus an extraordinary world storyline so, unfortunately for Logan, we get to watch him turn the tables (in this case, fine wobbly glass tables from 1976) and run like everyone else. There the adventure begins.

This is one of the best Science Fiction films ever. Yes, the FX are pre Star Wars quality but that does not detract from the struggle with society in a future earth. The film's action is constant. The plot is captivating and the charaters are believable. A young woman and a law man's lives cross and a struggle ensues to find sanctuary outside the beautiful, encapsulated, post apocalyptic city they live in that claims all people must "renew" at 30.

After a nuclear war the survivors are sealed off in a domed city. With limited resources a computer controls life so that people die at thirty. They are told that they are reborn. Some resist becomming runners. The runners are pursued by the Sandmen who hunt them down and terminate them. Logan is a sandman who is forced to become a runner by the computer. He finds sympathy in the arms of Jessica. They flee pursued by his friend Francis who tracks them even outside the city. Francis is eventually killed by Logan. They return with an old man to the city, the computer bolws up and sets the people free as the radiation is now gone form the war hundreds of years before.
