Review Summary
In this last book of “The Immortals” quartet, Veralidaine and her sorcerer friend-teacher Numair are placed into the realms of the gods. There Veralidaine reunites with her mother and finds out who her father is, the author's rendition of a sort of Pan god. In order to return back to earth, where war is raging amongst humans and immortals, Daine and Numair have to travel to the Dragonlands. During their trek, they come to recognize the feelings they have for one other. When they return back to their world, they are swept away by the roles they play in the raging war, even if many immortals are vanquished and banned to the Immortal's world once again. Daine also manages to defeat her enemy, the once human emperor-turned stormwing, Ozorne.

In The Realms of the Gods, Daine and her teacher Numair start off trying to save a town located in Tortall. They are losing the battle, when both are scooped up and transported to the realms of the gods. Daine finds out who her dad is, but Numair and her need to return to Tortall as soon as possible since they are currently in a war there. The only way for them to go home is to venture to the Dragonlands, since the gods are busy in their own war with the Queen of Chaos, who, suprisingly, might have something to do with the war in Tortall. It is a treacherous journey to the Dragonlands, and along the way, both Daine and Numair discover their true loves... In the end, Daine must battle Ozorne, a stormwing who is a past enemy.

Daine must put her skills to help stop Uusoae at all costs. Daine also discovers her true parentage. She is forced to decide whether to stay in the realm of the gods with her father or to return to her own realm.
Neil Morey, Resident Scholar
