Review Summaries
"Lewis crafts an amazing story of the evil organization, N.I.C.E. and their plot to find Merlin and use him to further their plans to control the country (U.K.) with a mix of magic and science. The resistance, led by Dr. Ransom, find Merlin first and discover his actual inclinations. A young woman and her husband are divided by the two organizations and the plot follows both of them by turns, as Jane discovers her visionary talents and finds the Truth, and Mark tries to extricate himself from N.I.C.E."
R Ford, Resident C.S. Lewis Scholar

"Mark is drawn into the inner circle of those seeking to create a new England and a new humanity through the combination of occult means and contemporary science. His wife, Jane, feeling a bit abandoned latches onto a group of people committed to the rescue of England and a continuation of the historic Christian vision of Arthur."
mark hamilton, Resident C.S. Lewis Scholar

"Jane Studdock has visions and joins her friends the Dimbles and Dr. Ransom in opposing the evil N.I.C.E. Simultaneously, her husband works for the organization. Jane learns about faith while her husband learns the evils of selfish ambition. The book has a few stray Arthurian treads woven beautifully into it. Also notable is the contrast of faith and respect for the Earth with cold, materialistic science. "
C.V.B., Resident C.S. Lewis Scholar

"Ransom, the hero of the first two books ('Out of the Silent Planet' and 'Perelandra'), takes something of a back seat in the action but masterminds the counterattack. The race is on to revive or resurrect Merlin. The question is, will whose side will he be on if he can be brought back? The action is seen through the eyes of a sociology lecturer, who is a most unwilling hero. Society will be taken over by great evil from without and within unless he can find it in himself to lay aside personal ambition and do what he knows to be right. A very rich and exciting book."
Michael JR Jose, Resident C.S. Lewis Scholar
