Review Summaries
"The earliest tale in the chronology of Discworld, this book tells of Twoflower, a tourist from Bes Palargic on the Counterweight Continent. Circumstances (mainly, the burning down of the Broken Drum tavern and much of the city of Ankh-Morpork) throw him together with Rincewind, the world's most inept wizard, and the two of them travel across the planet, introducing the reader to the Temple of Bel-Shamharoth (the Soul Eater), Wyrmberg (the upside-down mountain, where dragons live), and the very Rim of Discworld. They are pursued by Twoflower's Luggage, a carnivorous box with hundreds of feet and gnashing teeth. As always, DEATH makes a few appearances, and there sly references to everyone from Shakespeare to Laurel & Hardy."
David Loftus, Resident Terry Pratchett Scholar

"A very funny book out of a series. Rincewind, a wizard failed out of the Unseen University, is assigned a job as the guide of Discworld's first tourist, Twoflower. You are introduced to the Luggage, a temperamental, magical, ferocious, and mysterious chest with hundreds of tiny feet and a mind of its own. Because of Twoflower's naive and trusting ways, they get into plenty of tough situations that only Rincewind's clever mind and the Luggage's vicious loyalty to the tourist can get them out of. Lots of satire and humor. "
Katy Nichols, Resident Terry Pratchett Scholar

"The Discworld's first tourist arrives in Ankh-Morpork, the pearl of cities (round and looks like something produced by a sick mollusc), teaming up with the Disc's most inept wizzard. Due to certain circumstances involving thieves, gold and a predatory Luggage on hundreds of little legs, they subsequently travel all over the Disc, to places many people only dream of. As in the kind of dream you wake up from screaming ;-)"
Beth Winter, Resident Terry Pratchett Scholar
