Review Summary
A unicorn overhears two hunters talking as they walk through her woods. One tells the other that all the unicorns were gone except one. An that one unicorn is the one is the one that dwells inside the forest they're hunting in. Knowing they wouldn't get any game, they leave the forest, leaving the unicorn wondering if she is indeed the last.

She leaves her forest to find her kind. On her way she meets a magician named Schmendrick, a woman named Molly Grue, and many other characters. All of them help her as she tries to find the other unicorns. As she comes close to her goal, a red bull appears and tries to take her prisoner. Schmendrick, left with no other choice, transforms her into a beautiful human girl. The unicorn, now trapped in a human body must remember that she is s unicorn or she will become totally humane and die. She must also find the other unicorns before it's too late.

"The Last Unicorn" is about a unicorn who realizes that she is the last and sets out on a journey to find out where all the other unicorns have gone. She meets up with a bungling magician, Schmendrick, and they continue the journey together to the castle of King Hagrid where they encounter The Red Bull, a mystical creature that gathers unicorns for Hagrid. In order to escape the Bull, Schmendrick transforms the unicorn into a human woman. This transformation leads to the unicorn being able to experience regret, something other unicorns are unable to feel.

A unicorn hears that she is the last and embarks on a quest to find the other unicorns, which takes her many places and finally to the castle of King Haggard, who holds the unicorns imprisoned. She is turned into a human to hide herself from the Red Bull, a magical being that Haggard uses to trap the unicorns, and falls in love with Prince Lir.

This story is all about a unicorn (the last!) going in search of the others of her kind: after hearing that they were imprisoned somewhere by 'the red bull'. Whilst on her quest she meets a magician and female criminal type. She also meets a human prince who loves her but...can they be together?
Emma, Resident Scholar

This is a beautiful cartoon about the last unicorn searching for the rest of her species. Along the way she meets a would-be magician and a hardened criminal women with a soft heart. If you love unicorns, you have to see this movie. The music is great too, performed by "America."
