The hero of Mad Max returns in this dystopian vision of a horrifying near future. Having lost everything that he cared for, a former policeman takes to the wastelands in a mad search for the next tank of gas. Max discovers a band of refugees who are pumping and refining fuel, but a gang of vicious marauders has discovered it first, and if he wants to survive, Max must rekindle his sense of compassion and rediscover his nerve. Max emerges a hero, but his cynicism is only reinforced.

Traumatized by the murder of his family at the hands of a biker gang, highway patrolman Max runs away to live in the Australian Outback. During his sebatical, world order falls apart and the apocolypse occures. The story explores the idea of the "anti-hero" as Max becomes a mercinary in a battle between two rival communities fighting for control of oil. The nature of "good" and "evil" are questioned as neither group really has a more legitimate claim to the oil.

Mad Max, in his search for gas, food, and other things that would come in handy in post-apocalyptic Australia, finds an oil refinery under siege by a gang of crazed "bikers" led by The Humongous. Max enters the oil refinery and agrees to help the group of survivors escape in exchange for some high octane gasoline (being that gasoline is pretty scarce). Anyway, his plan succeeds and the survivors escape....... and there is a little twist at the end but I guess you'll have to see it yourself.
