Review Summary
A cop is shot up by a group of drug dealers. He is killed, but a group of scientists resurrect him and turn him into a crime fighting machine. As he sets out cleaning up the streets he begins to have nightmares and flashes of his past. He then sets off to avenge himself and defeat an evil businessman trying to control him.
Jack Bauer, Resident Scholar

In the not-too-distant future, the city of Detroit is in turmoil. A cop killer named Clarence Boddicker (Kurtwood Smith, later to star as the father in "That '70s Show"!) and his gang wreak havoc in the streets. Giant corporation OCP (Omni Consumer Products) proposes to replace human cops with a giant robot called ED-209 which malfunctions during a demo and kills a man. When a young officer named Alex J. Murphy (Weller) is killed by Boddicker's gang, an OCP exec orders a super-robot cop built up over and with the remains of Murphy's body. Robocop and Murphy's longtime female partner, Officer Anne Lewis (Allen) start arresting Boddicker's men, but they immediately get released because they turn out to be in the employ of an OCP exec! Everything heads toward a big showdown. Part action thriller, part satire, and brutally, graphically violent, "Robocop" is sheer, dumb entertainment and not for the faint of heart.
David Loftus, Resident Scholar

Robocop, part man, part machine...all cop! The first and best of the Robocop Trilogy, finds Cop, Murpy (Weller) brutally killed on the job by Clarence (Kurtwood Smith) and is then retooled into a cyborg to fight crime. But as events occur, Robocop begins to uncover the truth about himself and who he really is. Thank you for your cooperation...goodnight!
