Review Summaries
"A fugitive since the age of seven, Michela keeps one goal, one drive, close to her heart—remove Camilla from power. Camilla, now reigning as queen, cleverly murdered Michela's parents and sent her to be killed shortly after learning the girl's suspicions. We start with Camilla's perspective, from when Michela is a baby to when she is seven years old. When a traumatic experience pushes Camilla over the edge, she sends her huntsman to take Michela out into the forest to kill her. Nearly everything from this point on is Michela's perspective, starting when she is taken in not by seven little men, but a full-out family. For the next several years, she finally receives a semi-normal childhood with her foster family. When Michela is 21, she already a captain in the dwarf army. After earning the reputation as a competent warrior and becoming a war hero, she finally decides it is time to take back her kingdom from Camilla, who has become a cruel tyrant. Werewolves and poisons run amok in this world and Michela must deal with physical and emotional challenges as she crosses from soldier to queen."
