Dark Victory Book Review - Star Trek Series Book Review

This is the continuing story of "battling the evil duplicates from the parallel universe". The first 30 or 40 pages of this book was very good. We see the good Kirk battling the evil Kirk on an asteroid, with cameos from the alternate Picard, Georgi, Riker, et. al. Then, after the evil Kirk predictably escapes, the good Kirk spends the next 200 pages or so wondering, "What are the bad guys doing?", and so do we, because we don't see them at all. The only amusing part comes towards the end of the book when Garak, the Cardassian spy from Deep Space Nine, makes a cameo appearance where he ties up and extracts information from a suspect.
But otherwise very little happens in the book; it's mainly filler for the second half of the book, to come out in a few months, where presumably things will be resolved. While there's nothing wrong with having a series of books, there's very little to be said for a book that simply ends in the middle without a contained story of its own. It would have been more interesting to see what the evil Kirk was up to, and to see more of what the alternate Picard and Riker were like. My advice: avoid this book and wait to see if the next book in the chain has some action in it.

Review Summaries
"This is another novel written by Priceline.com spokesman William Shatner. It details Kirk's battle with the evil Kirk from the other universe... at least, in the first 30 pages. Then nothing of consequence happens in the next 90% of the book, and then in the last 30 pages things start happening again... but the book stops in the middle, "to be continued.""
