| Review Summary |
As the massive Martian space fleet closes in on the Arcturus system, a small asteroid mining ship intercepts a Halloween night broadcast of Orson Welles' "War of the Worlds" and misinterprets it as news of an actual Martian invasion of Earth.
The Martian quintet (voiced by Kevin Thompson, Tony Pope, Bruce Lanoil, Jeff Winkless, and Joe Alaskey) traces the signal to the small town of Big Bean, Illinois, where they attempt to conquer the "Earth scum" with their superior firepower. The invasion turns into a comedy of errors, however, when the townsfolk first mistake the diminuitive aliens for trick-or-treaters, then become enraged when the invaders blow up the town's brand-new off ramp.
Faced with an angry mob, a deady enforcer drone (voiced by Patrick Read Johnson), and a ship whose self-destruct system has been activated, which could wipe out the planet, the Martians have no choice but to turn to the local sheriff (Douglas Barr), his resourceful daughter (Ariana Richards), and a crotchety old farmer (Royal Dano) to save their green skin.
