Review Summaries
"Vitellan always knew that he felt safe in the cold, but he did not realize that it would alter his life forever. Vitellan is a Roman citizen who has been sent to a special assignment, without his own knowledge, because the Temporians, who are ancient Etruscans who freeze themselves in order to live for centuries, want to recruit him. But the Temporian stronghold is penetrated which makes them send Vitellan away. Interestingly, the thief that broke into the stronghold escapes with the potion for using to freeze oneself, and gives the potion to a chemist who eventually meets Vitellan and administers the potion to Vitellan to begin his journeys. The story reenters into the ninth century with the recent revival of Vitellan. The superstitious Anglo-Saxons see Vitellan as a resurrection of an ancient hero, throwing Vitellan into leadership roles in the army. Because of the potency of the potion, Vitellan has ruined his stomach and is dying; therefore, he desires be frozen again and continue his journey through time. Next, Vitellan awakes into the fourteenth century when England and France are at the height of the Hundred Year's War. Again, Vitellan gets leadership roles in the army, but his main goal for going to France is to find a new site for his body to be frozen. In this century, Vitellan falls in love, but he leaves her to be frozen yet again. Finally, Vitellan awakes in the mid-twenty first century, where he finds that religious cults have sprung up revering the men and women who have been frozen in time (others have been discovered). His journey comes to a close as he battles his way to stay alive and disprove these new cults."
