Review Summary
"Superman" who upon finding the location of his home planet 5 years before traveled to it and has just returned to the mother who raised him. He resumes his identity of Clark Kent and returns to work at the Daily Planet where he learns that Lois Lane is engaged and living with the man who is the father of the son Lois has had. Lois had written a scathing article about why the world no longer needs Superman and has won an award for it.

Lex Luther has escaped punishment for his crimes because of Supermans decision to travel home and Lex is again causing havoc by planning to cause the death of millions of innocents and creating his own island. Lex kidnaps Lois and her son and her son shows an un-natural strength in protecting his mother from Lex's hinchmen.

Who is the father of this boy? The man he has known for the last five years and has raised him or the man he has just come to know as Superman and Clark Kent?

Superman is injured in thwarting Lex's plan and is in critial condition in the hospital as the world awaits news of his condition. The Daily Planet prepares headlines for both his death and his survival.

Superman has just returned to Earth after flying off into space to explore the ruins of his home world of Krypton, which are barren of life. The Earth he has returned to has not done well without him. Crime and chaos are rampant and the arch-villain Lex Luthor, his henchman in tow, has traveled to Antarctica, where he has discovered the Fortress of Solitude and stolen some crystals used by the Kryptonians to construct cities and continents.

Meanwhile, Lois Lane has moved on, raising a young son with his long-time fiance, the nephew of Perry White. She also won a Pulitzer Prize for an editorial entitled, "Why the World Doesn't Need Superman." However, Superman still believes that people need someone to deliver them from their tribulations, and returns to his usual exploits, much to the concern of Lex Luthor. As Clark Kent, he tries to re-enter Lois Lane's life and as Superman, tries to convince her that the world really does need a champion.

Being an arch-villain and all that, Lex Luthor steals a chunk of Kryptonite from a local museum and kidnaps Lois Lane and her son, taking them onboard his ship. From there, he plans to launch the stolen crystals into the sea and create a new continent, a process which would kill billions of people. Along the way, of course, there are plenty of Superman's exploits: saving a woman whose car is careening down a busy road, pulling Lois Lane and her family out of Lex Luthor's sinking ship, saving a jumbo jet from crashing into the Earth and plenty more.
