Review Summaries
"Young Obi-Wan Kenobi is still reeling from having fought and then watched another Jedi apprentice die. Bruck Chun's father and brother now want Obi-Wan to pay and so they start a Senate investigation hearing against the young Jedi. Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and Bant must face the stern senators and a slimy prosecutor bent on twisting each and every one of their words.
Meanwhile, someone is trying to sabotage the Jedi's test program for pilots. Clee Rhara, Tahl, and Qui-Gon must find the saboteur before one of the students gets hurt. Tahl's keen sense of smell leads her and Qui-Gon to the truth that one of the mechanics is lying. Soon, they find out that Tarrence Chenati died twenty years ago. The imposter is chased off so he can't damage anything else but unfortunately he escapes. The investigation triggers a thought in Qui-Gon, his former Padawan didn't trust anyone. He discovers a recorder in Bruck Chun's lightsaber handle which plays back the entire last scene where Bruck died. Obi-Wan is finally cleared of all guilt. So why does he still feel so darn guilty? Bruck's family certainly still hates him.
Twelve years later, Obi-Wan and his apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, are asked to investigate a ship world run by Uni. Uni turns out to be none other than Kad Chun, the brother of the young Jedi who died that day he threatened Bant's life. An old friend and former thief, Den, gets Obi-Wan some text-docs on one of the low-level techs with high level security clearance. Obi-Wan remembers about the senate security clearances and sure enough, Kern died eight years ago.
Kad Chun truly didn't know, but his father, Vox, was working with Broken Circle, a new name for Offworld, to steal the treasury from the ship. Kern double crosses everyone and slips off with the treasure. Obi-Wan's friend Garen Muln realizes that Kern is none other than Tarrence Chenati, the saboteur of the Jedi pilot program. Obi-Wan helps Kad survive the attack on the ship. The bad guy escapes again, but Obi-Wan and Anakin's first mission is largely a success.
