Review Summary
The book begins while the Clone Wars are still raging and after a fierce battle in which Obi-Wan and Anakin join Republic forces to help free Chancellor Palpatine from the evil Sith Lord Count Dooku. Anakin is drawn into the Chancellor's confidence. Palpatine has designs on becoming more powerful and with this in mind he plants seeds of doubt in Anakin's mind about the strength and wisdom of the Jedi Council. Anakin is already trying to figure out how to reveal to others the news of his secret marriage to Padmé Amidala now that she is pregnant, and visions that foretell her death in childbirth constantly trouble him.
