Review Summaries
"Two spaceship fleets are battling for victory. One is the Oligarchy fleet, and the other is a rebel fleet lead by a brilliant scientist. The scientist places a baby in the hands of her apprentice, Erazias, who flees just before the two fleets disappear from space in a final clash, never to be heard from again. Sixteen years later the Oligarchy has collapsed, and that baby, Jerel Telmon, is living with her Uncle Orned. Jerel is illegally modifying her slideboard despite the cautions of her best friend, Kay, because she wants to finish her courier routes quicker. The next day a surprise inspection uncovers her modifications, so she quits and runs from the building, right into the hands of kidnappers. Using the blades from her slideboots, Jerel manages to escape and return home, where she finds Erazias talking with her uncle. Erazias wants to take her away and her uncle is refusing. Matters escalate when Kay comes to warn her that the police are searching for her. Kay decides to come along and help no matter what happens. However, the police are the least of their problems. The kidnappers are agents of the Oligarchy, and they want Jerel, the daughter of the rebel scientist. They believe that she will be useful in restoring the Oligarchy to power, and they will not stop until they have her. Unless they can escape, the Oligarchy will use Jerel to destroy all her parents worked for. "
