Review Summaries
"McKinley revisits the classic fairy tale of Beauty and the Beast, but adds complex characters and a more complicated storyline that has a different ending than the original fairy tale. In this retelling of the story, after Beauty goes to live with the Beast, she spends much of her time tending to his rose garden. After seven days, she falls in love with the Beast and the two go to live with her father and sisters. The ending is different because the Beast stays a beast; he is not magically transformed into a man. McKinley's original retelling of the fairy tale, Beauty, has fewer descriptions of roses and is closer to the original, but this version reads more like a fairy tale."
