Review Summary
This ia Disney animated film of Lewis Carroll's strange tale about a young girl's dream filled journey down a rabbit hole. Young Alice (Beaumont) is tutoring her sister on a beautiful spring day outside in a field. Her attention wonders as she pursues a strange white rabbit who is wearing clothes and carrying a pocket watch. He scampers off, claiming to be late as he disappears into a hole at the base of a tree. Alice gives chase only to tumble down a long passage where her dress acts as a parachute slowing her descent. She falls into Wonderland where she encounters a talking doorknob and must alternately shrink and grow (a recurring theme throughout the story) to get through the entryway as she is washed into the keyhole by an ocean of her own tears.

Floating in a bottle, Alice eventually reaches land and is among an odd assortment of creatures circling around a dodo bird and a campfire on the beach. She resumes her chase after the rabbit and instead finds Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee. They engage her in a story about a walrus and a carpenter who endeavor to eat baby oysters. Before they can begin another story she takes off and finds the rabbit is now at it's own little cottage and is calling her Maryann. She goes inside but grows to an enormous size after eating a wafer. The rabbit is in a panic to get her out of the house. She eventually shrinks and takes off after the rabbit once more. Next Alice meets a bed of beautiful singing flowers and they serenade her before driving her off. The next strange sight she finds is a caterpillar. Once again she experiences unnerving changes in her size before she is conversing with the prank playing Cheshire cat (Holloway). Alice looks in on the Mad Hatter (Wynn) and his tea party.

Walking through a labyrinth of bushes Alice stumbles upon the realm of the Queen of Hearts where her card shaped soldiers are painting white roses red. She is brought before the Queen of Hearts (Felton) and she is put on trial. Again Alice shrinks and grows before making her escape into the ocean and to the talking door where she first entered the Wonderland. Upon she her sleeping image she calls out to herself to wake up. She does rouse from her slumber to the voice of her sister calling her name. They decide to call it a day with the history lesson ended and go home for tea.
