Review Summary
Eric Vornoff, a deranged doctor, lives in a rundown house in a swamp outside a small town. He's obsessed with creating a race of supermen using atomic energy. His giant assisstant, Lobo, kidnaps people for the doctor to expiriment on, but all of the expiriments have failed thus far.
Anybody that wanders into the swamp becomes the prey of the doctor's pet, a giant octopuss he created with his expiriments.
Janet, a reporter is snooping around the swamp when Lobo snatches her and delivers her to Vornoff.
Jnet's friend, police Lt. Dick Craig, tracks her to the house where he is captured and chained to the wall.
Vornoff prepares to do his expiriment on Janet, but Lobo, who'd taking a liking to Janet attacks him. Lobo frees Janet, puts Vornoff in her place and begins the expiriment.
However, this time the expiriment works and gives Vornoff the strength of twenty men. He kills Lobo, grabs Janet and flees. When the cops show up and give chase Vornoff releases Janet.
The cops shoot Vornoff several times, but it doesn't stop him.
Dick pushes a giant boulder down a hill. It hits Vornoff and throws him into the swamp where he's attacked by the octopuss.
A bolt of lightning hits them destroying Vornoff and octopuss.

People have been vanishing around Willow Lake. Rumor has it that a mysterious monster is causing these disappearances. Intrepid reporter Janet Lawton investigates and is captured by the mad Dr. Vornoff and his nefarious henchman, Lobo. She discovers that Vornoff wants to create a race of "atomic supermen". Lobo gets the hots for her, though, and with minimal help from her dumb as a rock cop boyfriend, they manage to foil the mad doctor's scheme.

Lt. Dick Craig (McCoy) and journalist Janet Lawton (King) are both intrigued by the odd goings-on at the old Willow house near gloomy Lake Marsh. There have long been stories of a monster devouring people out at the marsh, and when two hunters disappear, Lawton goes out to investigate, and Craig follows. It turns out that a mad scientist, Dr. Eric Vornoff (Lugosi), has been trying to create a race of supermen with atomic power, but all his subjects die on the table. Vornoff is assisted by his massive but mentally handicapped slave, Lobo (Johnson). Eventually, Vornoff tries to work his scientific experiments on Dick and Janet themselves. This 1955 camp classic holds the distinction of being Lugosi's final speaking role.
