People have been vanishing around Willow Lake. Rumor has it that a mysterious monster is causing these disappearances. Intrepid reporter Janet Lawton investigates and is captured by the mad Dr. Vornoff and his nefarious henchman, Lobo. She discovers that Vornoff wants to create a race of "atomic supermen". Lobo gets the hots for her, though, and with minimal help from her dumb as a rock cop boyfriend, they manage to foil the mad doctor's scheme.

Lt. Dick Craig (McCoy) and journalist Janet Lawton (King) are both intrigued by the odd goings-on at the old Willow house near gloomy Lake Marsh. There have long been stories of a monster devouring people out at the marsh, and when two hunters disappear, Lawton goes out to investigate, and Craig follows. It turns out that a mad scientist, Dr. Eric Vornoff (Lugosi), has been trying to create a race of supermen with atomic power, but all his subjects die on the table. Vornoff is assisted by his massive but mentally handicapped slave, Lobo (Johnson). Eventually, Vornoff tries to work his scientific experiments on Dick and Janet themselves. This 1955 camp classic holds the distinction of being Lugosi's final speaking role.
