| Review Summary |
Zak Gibbs (Bradford) is a happy-go-lucky southern California teen whose father is a math and physics prof who's too wrapped up in his work. Right about the time Zak gets interested in a new foreign exchange student from South America named Francesca (Garces), he stumbles on a top-secret invention of one of his father's former students: a watch that switches its wearer into "hyper-time." The wearer of the watch seems to move at normal pace while everything around him is frozen, but in reality, his molecules are simply moving incredibly faster than all else. Naturally, its eccentric inventor Earl Dopler (Stewart) and his sinister boss Henry Gates (Biehn) will go to extraordinary lengths to retrieve the watch, while Zak uses it to perform tricks that will impress his prospective girlfriend. Directed by Star Trek: The Next Generation star Jonathan Frakes, this 2002 comedy-thriller is a soft updating of "Back to the Future," and features decent special effects and stunts and pleasant performances.
