Review Summaries
"The story takes place mostly in the Dukedom of High Gondylar, when two of the most powerful men in the kingdom are turned against each other, after the death of the Duke. The person who turned them against each other is one of the two main antagonists in the book, The Dark One of Vykon, who has his reasons for wanting revenge on the royal family. On the other side is Tanrif, a young man who lives across a great sea called The Mistress (for the number of widows it has made). Tanrif falls in love with the rightful heir to the Gondylarian throne, who was exiled for her own saftey when she was a child. Most of Gondylar thinks her dead. Tanrif has problems of his own, being chased by the Sarithan Assassins, who believe he'll be their undoing."
