The Invisible Man Returns stars Vincent Price as the hard to see title character Sir Geoffrey Radcliffe. He is sentenced to death for the murder of his brother, but he did not commit the crime. Radcliffe is visited by his good friend, Dr. Griffin, brother of scientist Jack Griffin the original invisible man who is now deceased. Just before he is to be executed by hanging he disappears out of his cell. The Scotland Yard detective rightly deduces Griffin has given Radcliffe a shot of invisibility serum to abet his escape.
Radcliffe meets up with his fiancée and vows to catch the real killer before he goes insane from the drug in his bloodstream. He interrogates a former night watchman by running his vehicle off the road and roughing him up. He is told that Sir Michael's murderer is none other than Radcliffe's cousin Richard Cobb. Cobb has done this to inherit the family's mining company out from under the Radcliffe brothers Michael and Geoffrey. Radcliffe gets to Cobb in front of the night watchman. Cobb is exposed as the killer before Cobb slays the witness.
Radcliffe pursues the fleeing Cobb, catches him, and is shot by the Scotland Yard detective. Cobb is killed in the altercation and confesses before expiring. Radcliffe staggers to Dr. Griffin's lab and is saved by a blood transfusion and last moment operation to the gunshot wound.
