Review Summaries
"Princess Ozma has disappeared! Not only that, her Magic Picture is gone, Glinda's Great Book of Records and chemical compounds have vanished, and someone also stole the Wizard's black bag of magic instruments. All the luminaries of Oz -- from Dorothy and the Wizard to the Woozy, Toto, and the Cowardly Lion -- join the search for their beloved monarch. Unbeknownst to them, two residents of the high, broad tableland of the Yips (in the southwest corner of Winkie Country) are also on a search: Cayke the Cookie Cook has lost her diamond-studded dishpan for making cookies, and Frogman, the big and wise frog, agrees to help her search for it. Eventually all the parties join up and realize that they are looking for the Wicker Castle of Ugu the Shoemaker, who wants to be the most powerful magician in Oz. After several tales that take place elsewhere, this 1917 book -- the eleventh full-sized Oz story -- takes place entirely in Oz and is one of the better Baum narratives."
