Review Summaries
"Betsy Taylor is a recently unemployed secretary who gets killed and comes back as a vampire. She is, however, unaware of this for a while, until other vampires contact her. Two groups of vampires are at war, and one believes that Betsy is the prophesied vampire queen because she can do many things that normal vampires can't, such as going for days without blood. The group that believes she is the vampire queen would like her to ally with them, so that she can help them overthrow the leader of the other vampire group. Betsy could really care less about vampire politics, but she really needs some help learning how to live as a vampire. It also helps that the leader of that group, Sinclair, is really attractive. In spite of the fact that Betsy would like nothing better than to go shoe shopping with her best friend, her life and the lives of others depends upon her and how she chooses to participate in the vampire war."

" Berkley, Mar 2004, 5.99, 288 pp. ISBN: 042519485X In Minnesota, Elizabeth “Betsy” Taylor arrives at her clerical job at Hamton & Sons to be handed a pink slip on her birthday. When she returns to her home she finds Giselle her cat missing. With an April snow making the roads treacherous, Betsy notices Giselle in the street. She goes to rescue that darn cat, but a driver sees Betsy too late and kills her. Betsy awakens in a coffin dressed in an ugly pink suit and her wicked stepmother's throw away shoes. Apparently when she was assaulted a few months ago, she became bitten and converted to a vampiress. The minions of her undead world believe Betsy is the Queen. While all she wants is to remain dead in nice garb, shoes, and hairdo, the vampiric crowd covets sex with her to solidify their power. Only the tall, dark, and handsome Eric Sinclair offers to mentor her on things she needs to know about vampirism, but was afraid to ask. Harriet Klausner "
