"Lt. Tuck Pendleton (Quaid), a cocky but somewhat washed-up Navy pilot, agrees to participate in a secret scientific experiment that will miniaturize him and an exploratory vessel to be injected into a lab rabbit. But criminals break into the lab to steal the technology and shoot the lead scientist, who injects the fateful syringe into hypochondriacal store clerk Jack Putter (Short). The microchip stolen by the bad guys won't work unless coupled to a second chip that is aboard Tuck's pod, now in Putter's bloodstream, so they're after him now. With the help of Tuck's ex-girlfriend, a cute reporter named Lydia Maxwell (Ryan), Putter tries to elude the criminals and get Tuck ejected from his body (not to mention properly enlarged) before the pilot's oxygen runs out. "Innerspace" is a decent 1987 sci-fi comedy that naturally makes pointed references to "Fantastic Voyage" and picked up an Oscar for best visual effects."
