Review Summaries
"This movie starts with Philip Brainard (Fred MacMurry) in his garage labratory working on a new chemical substance. His housekeeper comes in and tells him that his wedding is that night. But he absent-mindedly forgets as he is working on his experiments. Well as the movie goes on it shows him having to fight for his girl with Shelby Ashton, an English Professor from Rutland. As the story goes on we meet Alonzo Hawk (Keenan Wynn) the owner of an Insurance company who has the mortgage of the Deep In Debt University Medfield College. He tells them that if they don't have the monthly payment in by the end of the month. That Medfield COllege will just be a pile of rubble. Well to sum up this movie Phillip Brainard marries his sweethart (Nancy Olson) and they fly away to their honeyomoon on Philips Flubber powered Model T Ford. (Touring Car)."

"Ned Brainard (MacMurray) is a bumbling chemistry professor at the small town college of Medfield. He is so absent-minded he forgets to show up at his wedding -- three times! -- so fiancee Betsy Carlisle (Olson) starts seeing another prof. Meanwhile, Brainard stumbles on a fabulous invention, flying rubber, which gains energy whenever it strikes a solid surface, and he calls it "flubber." It creates shoes that can enable the wearer to jump to amazing heights, and allows Brainard to fly his old Model T. The basketball team's star player, Biff Hawk, has gotten poor grades from Brainard and so he is off the team, which is losing badly to rival Rutland College. Flubber comes to the rescue, naturally. The U.S. military isn't interested in the invention, but Biff's father, the unscrupulous Alonzo Hawk, who wants to develop housing on the campus, schemes to steal the invention. All comes out well, of course, in this silly Disney picture helmed by director Robert Stevenson and writer Bill Walsh, who were responsible for many later hits, including "Mary Poppins," "That Darn Cat," "The Love Bug," and "Bedknobs and Broomsticks.""
