Review Summaries
" Victor Frankenstien is thrilled to be at university. He throws himself into his studies and discovers what no one else has. It is possible to create life, specifically in the from of a human. Victor now doubles his efforts and manages to create his own human. However, Victor is disgusted by the creature's grotesque appearence and gutteral speech. He abandons the creature and endeavors to forget that it ever existed. The murder of his young brother brings Victor back home. While there, he again encounters his creation. The creature confronts Victor with a horrible request: to make another creature to be his companion. If Victor agrees, the creature will leave him and all mankind alone. If he doesn't, the creature will not rest until he has destroyed Victor and his family."
Kristee Pittman, Resident Mary Shelley Scholar

"Victor Frnkenstein is a young and eccentric scientist who has conducted illegal experiments. However, the resulting product is a creature that mocks man with its hideous features. After several attempts of making friends with humans, the creature realizes that no one will ever accept him and seeks revenge against Victor and his family."
Josh Nelson, Resident Mary Shelley Scholar

"Frankenstein creates a human being using dead people's body parts. He creates this monster that has unbelivable strength and is vicious. "
Katie Smith, Resident Mary Shelley Scholar

"As a result of a dream, Mary Shelley, who was the wife of the poet William Bysshe Shelley, conceived the idea of a novel in which a scientist would seek to create human life in a laboratory. In her story, the young Victor Von Frankenstein manages to do just this, using fresh cadavers. Frankenstein's hideous creature is a pathetic specimen, with no sense of identity or any common history or experience with the members of human society. He seeks understanding, but it evades him and, at the end of the narrative, the grotesque creature becomes a murderer, killing his creator's bride in revenge for Frankenstein's refusal to create a wife for the monster. The novel ends with the creature still alone, floating off upon an iceberg, presumably to his doom."
Gary L. Pullman, Resident Mary Shelley Scholar
