Review Summaries
"The House, where Claidi is a servant to Princess Jad Leaf, is a sort of "bubble" society, with everyone there not knowing of the world beyond. They think that the outside world is a terrible place and dubbed it the Waste. A man from the Waste lands near the House in a hot air balloon. He is taken prisoner, but Claidi helps him escape and finds herself in the Waste, which turns out to be not that bad. Claidi and the balloon guy, whose name is Nemian, travel around and meet groups of very interesting people. Claidi must decide what she wants for herself now that she's out of the House."

"Claidi has lived her whole life in the House as a servant to mean princesses. The House has always told them that there is nothing out in the Waste beyond the House walls. But when a stranger comes out of the Waste, Claidi is told to help rescue him. She travels and discovers some things are good in the Waste-that-isn't. The stanger, a prince named Neiman, turns out to have betrayed her. In the end though, she is rescued by a man named Argul, who she falls in love with. This is all told through diary entries in a stolen book."
