science fiction

As episodes go, "Losing Time" was hardly original, even for Farscape--alien takes over Moya crewmember, crew is frantic to find alien, they find alien, they destroy alien--but that doesn't present it from being amusing, despite the slow "where's the blood?" beginning (incidently, they never explain where the blood went).

As usual, they take good advantage of the most interesting crewmembers, John Crichton and Chiana (maybe they could also duplicate Chiana so she could be in every episode too). John Crichton discovers the alien inside Chiana, Chiana gives John Crichton mind sex, John Crichton helps destroy alien #1, and then alien #2. They would've found the alien sooner, but the alien, making Chiana act slutty, didn't cause the others to find anything wrong with her.

The plot has some funny lines, such as when Crichton calls one of the DRD's "Pike" for the way it flashes its light to communicate like Star Trek's Captain Pike from "The Menagerie". Dargo and Jool are expendible, and Chiana is as amusing as ever.

And for once there is also a substantial B plot. All of a sudden, we learn the peacekeepers are on the verge of being wiped out by the Scarrans. We didn't get any foreshadowing of this. It will be interesting to see what Scorpius does next. It was funny to watch him act thoughtful as he gave himself throat injections (and what's with the cable in his head? Does he watch cable TV while he sleeps?).

All in all, a reasonably amusing, if unoriginal episode.
