science fiction

This has to be one of the WORST episodes ever, possibly even worse than the one where Creighton goes to the planet of the pointy earred people to look for rock salt. In brief, Chianna puts pink bubble gum in her hair and joins a clan of cliff jumpers.

The dim corridors and nonsense spouted by the hippie dwellers in this episode remind me of bad Dr. Who episodes where the characters would wander back and forth over the set but that nothing would happen. And, indeed, nothing much did happen in this episode, aside from Chianna jumping over the cliff, which she could've done in the first five minutes.

Other things I didn't understand: how could Chianna perform surgery on herself without anesthetic? Also, wouldn't the blood loss have killed her? She didn't even seem sore after the operation? And what's with the life disks? Wasn't there an easier way to keep track of each other, like writing letters?

And why would Creighton risk taking a poison mushroom? What's the sense in that? This whole episode was really, really dumb.
