"Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) is a recovering alcoholic who accepts a job as the winter caretaker of the Overlook Hotel for six months. He brings his wife (Shelley Duvall) and son Danny (Danny Lloyd) to the isolated hotel where Danny finds out he has a special power from cook Dick Halloran (Scatman crothers).
