Review Summaries
"eXistenZ is a movie coproduced, written and directed by canadian director David Cronenberg in 1999. The director won the Silver Berlin Bear for outstanding artistic achievement at the Berlin Film Festival. Allegra Geller is the best inventor/designer of virtual video games. During the first public presentation of eXistenZ, her last creation, she is attacked by a young fanatic member of an organization opposed to her games. She must flee with Ted Pikul, a marketing employee, who must protect her. But first, in order to verify whether Allegra's organic game pod, that contains the only available version of the new game, has been hurt, both must play eXistenZ. Ted accepts reluctantly the graft of a gameport in his own spinal column in order to be able to play. Ian Holm, an old scientist, repairs the pod so that Allegra and Ted can at last play. During the first game, they discover that the game pod has been infected by a virus that could destroy it. But soon both heroes don't know anymore whether they are playing or not eXistenZ. A great and smart alternative to MATRIX."
