Tetsuo and Kaneda, childhood friends and gang members, are caught up in the middle of the bike war. Tetsuo winds up in an accident. The Militia see him fit for the experiment of Project: Akira (the person you rarely see in the movie, but is considered the foundation of the project).
Taken back to the lab against his own will, the experiments done on Tetsuo begin to kick in as he has flashbacks and his Telekenetic abilities begin to kick in. It gets to a point where the mental games agrivate him so much that he takes it out on the patients and the small world that has oppressed him.

The year was 2030 in Neo-Japan thirty years after the third World War. A local biker gang was chasing their rivals. One of the bikers, Tetsuo is force to stop suddenly because a kid is in the way. As he flips over a pile of garbage an is seriously wounded. A local organization picks up Tetsuo and brings him to a "hospitol." The doctor realizes that Tetsuo is a perfect subject for the experiment. After the operation, Tetsuo is confused and disoriented. A few days later he desides to go see this Akira person under a stadium. Tetsuo discovers that he has been gaining powers ever since the operation he had after the crash. After realizing that Akira is dead, he is enraged and starts destroying things left and right. His best friend Keneda is the only person to stop him. Though there is much I havent said but I would need a lot more time than I have in one day. But out of all of the movies I have seen, this is most certainly the best. The animation is incredible, and the plot line is amazing. This 1980's film is a classic must see. I give this movie one million Memory sticks up.
