Review Summaries
"Based on the Pierre Boulle novel, PLANET OF THE APES is a movie directed by Tim Burton in 2001.
Mark Wahlberg, accidentally thrown into a magnetic storm, is forced to land on an alien planet some 500 years later in the future. He discovers a world ruled by the apes who are enslaving the humans. He'll help these people to fight the army of General Thade, a monkey whose family descends from the first ape who ruled the planet."

"This is the remake of the original Planet of the Apes with Charlton Heston (Heston's does a short cameo in this one). A space Air Force pilot training apes to fly space ships gets stranded in the future on a planet ruled by evolved apes. With the help of a few sympathetic apes, the pilot escapes capture and leads a rag-tag group of humans to freedom. If this terrible film has any redeeming qualities, they'd have to be the monkey costumes and the ending. The rest of the movie was trash: the dialogue, acting, and plot, while comparably stupid as that of the original film, fail completely to accomplish anything other than a lame rehash. "

"An astronaut finds himself on an alien planet where apes rule and humans are slaves. There is one bad ape in particular who is hell bent on ruling over humans and installing himself into military power. With the help of a friendly ape female and some humans he meets along the way, our astronaut hero liberates the humans from ape enslavement, gets a few kisses, and finds his way home. Or is it?"

"Astronaut Mark Wahlberg finds himself thrown into the future and on a planet ruled by apes. He's promptly sold into slavery and his main goal becomes escape and a return to his own time. The chase is on as General Thade (Tim Roth, the baddest ape) pursues the human he considers extremely dangerous for the secrets he might hold. Exciting, action-packed, DVD promises to be loaded with extras."

"In this sci-fi adventure, an astronaut, Leo, crashlands on a planet in the far future only to dicover that it has been taken over by Apes. He must find a way to get back to his crew and leave this planet before the evil Ape general Thade finds him and kills him. In the end, it's a battle between Human and Ape to see who will RULE THE PLANET."

" In this "reimagining" of the 1968 classic, Planet of the Apes has come back for the future generations of today. Watching this movie I realized that there are many diffrences in this version and the older one. This film features many famous actors such as Tim Roth, Mark Wahlberg, and Michel Clarke Duncan. The story has also been changed to a point where it seems nothing like the predecessor. Whalberg plays the role of Captain Leo Davidson and after flying after a test monkey into a black/worm hole, is stuck on a world where monkeys rule the world and humans are the "slaves." Indie film actor Tim Roth plays the role of General Thade, a monkey tirant of this strange new world. Under his rank is Ducan who plays a terrific supporting role as a gorilla. His giant size fills the screen and shows how Rick Baker's makeup can be so realistic. A comic relief for this movie is played by Paul Giamati (Limbo) and suprisingly plays the role fairly well. Another different aspect of this movie is how Burton has managed to fit in a love intrest of simian and humans. Carter plays an orangutan who is a "human rights activist" and buys Wahlberg from the slave trader Limbo. This leads to a very awkward part of the movie of sexual tension between the two. With all this talk of the actors in this film, Charlton Heston makes a brief cameo as Thade's father. Ironicly the scene revolves around a gun. If I were to say the top performances in this movie I would say that Tim Roth takes the cake. His anger leaps off the screen in an almost magical way. As for the ending of this movie I will not tell but to see it and wonder for the next couple of days what it exactly means is worth the 8.00 dollars itself."

"Remake of the 1968 classic finds an Air Force pilot (Wahlberg) trapped on a planet ruled by apes where humans are the captives and slaves living in cages. With the help of another ape, Ari (Bonham Carter), and other human captives who have escaped, he helps fight the evil military ruler, General Thade (Roth)."
