Review Summaries
"In an old, gothic/baroque, tradition-bound Earldom, a bitter kitchen boy escapes the kitchens and sets about bringing the Earldom down and gaining power for himself. Based on the novels by Mevyn Peake, this BBC TV mini-series creates a fantastical world for fantastical characters, and though the ground the story covers has mostly been covered before, the style of the production makes it worth viewing. Occasionally funny, often depressing, sometimes overbearing, never weak."
