The hero, Bill, was in hospital at this time with his eyes bandaged, after he was attacked by a new breed of genetically modified, carniverous, seemingly intelligent plants called "Triffids".He discovers that almost everyone else is blind, and society quickly becomes a game of 'survival of the fittest'. Bill rescues another seeing woman called Josella. The couple fall in love, as they try to continue their lives in a world dominated by the triffids"
