"A Nelwin, Willow Ufgood, finds a Daikini child in the river close to his village. His wife Kaia falls in love with the child when she finds Rannon and Mims by the river while Willow is being attacked by the perfect, Burglecut. They decide to take the child to the village council after a dog attack in the village market.
The high Oldwin declares that Willow should take the child to the Daikini crossroads. A group, including Bruglecut, Bonkar (the villages best worrior) and Miegosh, (Willow's Best friend) accompany him. When they get to the crossroads they find a Daikini locked in a crows cage. He claims his name to be Madmartigan. He wants so look after the child. Willow thinks he can't trust him.
When Burglecut and Bonkar desert them, they have no choice but to give the baby to Madmartigan. On the way home the spy a Brownie riding an eagal holding the baby. Willow and Miegosh follow it to the Browine camp where a faerie called Cherlindrea tells them that Elora Dannon (The baby) has chosen Willow to be her guardian. She tells them that Elora is a princess who will bring the downfall of the evil queen Bavmorda who is currently looking for the child.
Willow tells Miegosh to go home and tell Kaia the he loves her. Willow goes on with two Brownies, Rhoule and Fanzie. They find Madmartigan with a woman in a tavern and create a fight when Madmartigan won't follow Sorshia's orders. The flee. Willow follows Madmartigan to the lake where he finds Fin Rasel, a muscrat, formerly a human. He continually bocthes his attempts to restore her to her normal self. They get captured by Notmore soldires, escape and kidnap Sorshia.
Sorshia leaves her mothers service but not before Kale gets the baby. They head toward Bavmorda's castle where Willow finally gets the spell right and Rasel is transformed into a woman again. They defeate Bavmorda and Madmartigan and Sorshia get together and adopt Elora Dannon. Willow goes home with a spell book and a white pony. Everyone gets excited and the family (Kaia, Willow, Rannon and Mims) are reunited."

"Willow Ufgood is just a Nelwyn farmer, and not very good at that. He wants to become a sorcerer, but all he knows is tricks. Then, one day, his children find an abandonded Diakini baby floating on the river. What started out as an attempt to return the baby to the Diakinis quickly changes once Willow meets up with the fairyqueen, Cherlindrea. Willow is given the task of bringing Cherlindrea's wand to the sorceress Fin Raziel, who will help him protect the baby, Elora Danan, who has chosen Willow as her guardian. Elora's coming is fortold to bring about the fall of the evil Queen Bavmorda. So, there begins the adventure!"

"An evil soceress is trying to kill a baby who is destined to destroy her, but a servant rescues the baby from death. The baby ends up being found by Willow (a dwarf farmer who dreams of becoming a magician) who has to take the baby back to the humans as it cannot stay in his village. The journey turns into an adventure/quest to defeat the evil soceress. He recieves help from a criminal who he forms an unlikely friendship with. "

"Seers have foretold that a newborn female will grow up to overthrow evil sorceress Queen Bavmorda. Riders search the land for female babies to slay. The true Alora Danin is found in the river by Willow Ufgood, an elwyn farmer who would like to become a sorceror, and he undertakes a journey to carry the infant to safety. Along the way he meets roguish warrior Madmartigan (Kilmer), several foolish Brownies, the good witch Fin Raziel, unfortunately locked up in animal form (Hayes), and the evil Queen's warrior daughter Sorsha (Whalley). The story is by George Lucas, who produced, with Ron Howard directing. This highly Tolkienesque film was the first feature (1988) to use morphing, courtesy of Industrial Light and Magic, and though it takes a while to get moving, is a bit overlong, and does not have much good acting, there is still a lot to like in it -- not least the sparks between gorgeous Whalley and buff and hearty Kilmer ("What are you looking at?" "Your leg -- I'd like to break it") who would marry after shooting was over (and divorce 8 years later). There's some terrific location shooting in New Zealand, California, England, and Wales. Lucas had planned two more films of this story, but box office receipts only just made back expenses, so he settled for releasing them in book form only."

She is found by an apprentice wizard of a race of dwarves who then embarks on an adventure that teams him with a rogeish outlaw swordsman and a good witch and puts him in conflict with the evil witch queen. There is also a woman warrior, armies fighting battles, and a pair of silly "Brownies." Lots of swordfighting action, magic spell-casting, and humor."
