Review Summaries
"Faced with the deaths of superior Officers, 17 year old Midshipman Nicholas Seaforth reluctantly takes command of the UNS Hibernia on its 18 month trip to Hope Nation. He faces mutiny, internal politics, ship invasion, first contact with vaccuum residing species, and (most difficult of all) his own internal expectations."
Stephen Scott, Resident David Feintuch Scholar
"This book is about a young Midshipman in a futuristic Navy.
When all the senior officers die in accidents, he has to take command of the ship light years from Earth. Nick Seafort (the main charecter) becomes his own worst enemy by thinking that everything he does is wrong and that he is responsible for everything bad that goes on in the ship.
He fails to see the good things that happen. But through the entire book he is fighting an inner battle to try and find himself.

"Due to the withdrawl of compulsory education, interstellar ships are run along eighteenth century sailing rules. A young midshipman, named Phillip Seafort, is forced to take the reins of command when his superior officers are killed in an accident. Not only does he have to get passengers and crew home, he must deal with rebellion, malfunction and fear both within and out as he seeks to prove himself and maintain his honour."
