An evil wolf-like creature, the morque, is attempting to help the Nothing, and with the luck dragon, Falcore's help, Atriau discovers how to save Fantasia through Bastian. "

"Shy, lonely Bastian comes upon an old book entitled "The Neverending Story". He starts to read it, and finds himself in the land of Fantasia, which is slowly being destroyed by the Nothing. The Childlike Empress of Fantasia, who is deathly ill, sends a young warrior, Atreyu, on a quest to save Fantasia. As Bastian reads about Atreyu's adventures, he becomes a part of the story, and learns that only he has the power to save Fantasia from destruction."
