Review Summary
Bad alien guy Emperor Ming is going to destroy the earth, our defenders...a rugby player (Flash), a women (Dale) and a scientist. Shot off into space they are sucked into a black hole and end up in another universe where the ruler of many alien planets is going to destroy the Earth. Flash has to earn the trust of different aliens and form an allience against Ming and also save Dale (the love interest) from becoming Ming's new bride. It's a cool movie with a great song by the band Queen.

An ordinary NFL quarterback ends up involved in a fight for freedom against a dictator bent on intergalatic dominance. With the assistance of his attractive love interest he fights against overwhelming odds in order to save his Earth. It may be dated in today's age of overbudgeted flicks this is a refreshing taste of pure heroism.

This movie cheesy however it was deliberately campy. I loved it. There were rightfully no awards for it but it is just old fashioned good v. evil in a sci-fi setting. Lots of action and color. Fun from start to finish. Great soundtrack.

Flash (Sam Jones) and Dale (Melody Anderson), taken hostage by the eccentric Dr Zarkov (Topol) and blasted into space in an effort to save Earth from the unwanted attentions of bald headed psychopath and Ruler of the Universe 'Ming the Merciless' (Max von Sydow). In their fight for survival on the lavish planet of Mongo and it's surrounding moons, Flash must chose between Earth-girl-next-door Dale, and the exotic and dangerous Princess Aura (Ornella Muti), all the while fleeing Mings troops and desperately seeking allies to help save the universe. If you cannot enjoy this excuberant indulgence of a film then you are dead.
Silus, Resident Scholar

Earth is in Danger... Flash Gordon, Quarterback for the New York Jets is kidnapped into a rocket and sent to fight. Surely enough, he motivates an entire race of oppressed aliens to rebel against Ming, the evil emperor. Soundtrack by Queen makes this the campiest sci fi flick ever.
