Review Summary
A wealthy showman (Attenborough) invites three experts to endorse his greatest achievement, a theme park populated by dinosaurs, bred from fossilized mosquito DNA. While the two paleontologists (Dern and Neill) are astounded, mathematician Dr. Malcolm (Goldblum) is highly skeptical. When his “life finds a way” warning comes true, and a thief sabotages Jurassic Park's defenses, this innocent group must find its way off the island before dozens of 30-60mph carnivorous T-rexes and velocoraptors catch up. Although not the consummate hero he was in “Independence Day” or the unfortunate Seth Brundle from “The Fly,” Goldblum again shows his ability to play wry-witted, intellectual scientists who can reason through the risk and cost of science. Great sound; boring John Williams score.

Scientists have succeeded in cloning dinosaurs from the DNA in their blood that has been preserved since the Jurassic inside insects trapped in amber. Wealthy businessman John Hammond (Attenborough) has financed an island theme park where the dinosaurs may be kept and seen. Before its opening to the general public, he shows the park off to a select group of guests, including dinosaur expert Alan Grant (Neill), paleobotanist Ellie Sattler (Dern), mathematician Ian Malcolm (Goldblum), and Hammond's two grandchildren. But park employee Dennis Nedry (Wayne Knight) disables the security system in order to steal some dinosaur embryos he can sell to the highest bidder, and this allows the dinosaurs to escape from their enclosures, with disastrous results. Steven Spielberg directed this quintessential summer blockbuster, released in 1993, with a screenplay coauthored by Michael Crichton and David Koepp based on Crichton's bestselling novel. Decent dialogue and exciting special effects (along with lovely location shooting in Oahu, Kauai, Costa Rica, and the Mojave Desert) make up for the so-so acting and sizable plot holes.

A bio-engineering company has created living dinosaurs using rank-A technology for a theme park called Jurassic Park. But John Hammond, founder of the park, needs approval from people who are in the top of their field. So he invites along six others to tour the still-in-progress park. But a greedy employee shuts off the park's power to steal embryos... Then all chaos ensues.
