Review Summaries
"High priest Imhotep has an affair with the pharohs mistress. When the pharoh finds out, Imhotep and the mistress kill him. The mistress makes Imhotep leave so he can ressurect her later because she plans to stab herself. His attempt fails though because the guards stop him. He is cursed and mummified alive with scarabs (a sort of beetle) put in to eat him slowly over the years. If Imhotep was ever ressurected he would be a plague apon the earth. He is burried in the city of the dead where all the great pharohs are kept along with all their riches. 3,000 years later after many have searched for the city and it's treasures, the french foreign legion find it. They are stopped from stealing anything by the descendants of the pharohs guards who have been guarding the place to prevent the ressurection of Imhotep. One of the Legionnaires, Rick O'Connell escapes alive (his friend Benny escapes aswell but he doesn't know that)."

"1923 - working for the French Foreign Legion, Rick O'Connell stumbles upon Hamanaptra, a lost city of Egyptian legend. 1932 - Rick is conned into returning there and he doesn't really want to because Hamanaptra is haunted. It's a race with a group of American treasure hunters, but they all find the lost city at the same time, and form an uneasy truce. Rick's partner, librarian Evie Carnahan, unknowingly unleases the immortal Imhotep, The Mummy, whose purpose is to resurrect his lost love - and take over the world."

"The year is 1923. A soldier in the French Foreign Legion stumbles into an archaeological dig and his sense of adventure and greed get the better of him. The dig involves an Egyptian priest, Imhotep, who was supposedly mummified alive and cursed as punishment for sleeping with Pharoah Seti's mistress. Imhotep is disturbed and returns to life with eye-popping and savage powers. The film has thrilling visual effects, Fraser plays his role with verve and good humor, and Weisz is terrifically lively and attractive. A real hoot!"
David Loftus, Resident The Mummy Scholar

"In the 1930's a young treasure hunter finds love and adventure while trying to stop a revived Egyptian mummy from taking over the world. Highly recommended exciting horror/comedy/adventure."
Nathan James, Resident Scholar
