Review Summary
The President's plane is shot down over the city of New York (now a massive prison) and Snake Plissken is sent in to rescue him. If he succeeds, he will be granted his freedom.

Manhattan is a walled maximum security prison. The President's plane crashes inside, and a criminal (Snake Plissken) is given the choice of making a rescue, or being interned in Manhattan for life.

Snake Plisken, a former Green Beret, now accused felon, is sentenced to life imprisonment on New York's Manhattan Island Maximum Security Prison. His only way out? Strike a deal with the cops to go in and rescue the President (who had been kidnapped earlier). Find him, and it's a full pardon. Fail, and a bomb implanted in his arteries go off.
