Review Summaries
" The book starts with the main character, Keleios, as a 5 year old girl who dreams a terrible nightmare in which her mother is murdered by an evil woman named Harque, and herself and her sister are taken prisoner and tortured. Three days later, these events come to pass, and the girls are rescued only 2 days later, but that was more than enough time to permanently scar. The story starts up again 18 years later, Keleios is outside the tower of prophecy, knowing that there is another dark dream awaiting her, but too afraid to fall asleep. But she plucks up the courage and enters, where she is attacked twice in the dream-world, both times almost losing her life. But she does learn things in her dream. She knows that the keep is going to burn down and many people will lose their life. Later the next day, the keep is attacked by a power hungry sorcerer named Velen, half brother to Lothor, who has been trying, by fair means or foul, to get Keleios as his bride. During this battle there are many displays of magic and swordsmanship, but there are also a few very graphic deaths, many involving children, so this book may not be for the light of heart or weak of stomach. Keleios and her three of her friends survive the battle, but are labeled as traitors by a corrupt councilman, and a sent into exile. But they might as well of been executed, because they are teleported to an island where Harque and all her evil minions live."
