Review Summaries
"Rhiana was born into an ordinary village in the 15th century. Her world is filled with faeries and magicians...and dragons. Ever since she was a small child, Rhiana has been able to touch fire, and come away unburned. Her hair is as livid and bright as the burning flame. Most of all, Rhiana knows the dragons. She can sense them, distinct between their fighting scent and their mating scent. She can hear and feel their heartbeats in her very blood. To protect her family and those she loves, Rhiana has become a dragon slayer, for beneath her village is a hoard of gold and riches, gathered up by dragons of years, and has now attracted a doom of dragons beneath her home. Trained two years ago by a traveling slayer, Rhiana steps up to protect the village from the very beasts that she reveres, because she is good at it, because she will do so mercifully. But there is a problem. The lord of the castle doesn't want Rhiana to defeat these dangerous creatures, which have snatched up three men from the village already. Although he says it is to protect Rhiana, herself, from harm, she knows differently. For some reason, the lord is protecting these dragons. Struggling to break free from the society who wants women in the kitchen instead of out in the battlefield, Rhiana must overcome the lord's adamant refusal of her job, the emotions brought on by a handsome new slayer, the oddness of the lord's Luna-touched wife, and of her own mysterious abilities.
