Review Summaries
"A.P.E.X. was co-written and directed by Phillip J. Roth in 1993.
In 2073, it's possible to travel back in time and robots are regularly sent into the past. Scientist Nicholas Sinclair tries to understand why some of them come back infected by a virus. One day, the experiment goes wrong as the robot, sent in 1973, unexpectedly comes across three tourists in the middle of the Mojave desert. Fearing that the robot strictly implements the procedure and kills the people in order to avoid a time paradox, Sinclair interferes and stops the robot.
When Sinclair comes back in 2073, he finds a world totally different than the one he had left. Robots have kept coming from his 2073 laboratory into the past for a century now and they have nearly destroyed the human race. Most of the remaining population suffers from the plague Sinclair had noticed in his robots's constitution. If he wants to destroy this alternative time-line, Sinclair must absolutely find his laboratory and stop the procedure the robots are applying. With Shepherd and a group of soldiers, Sinclair traverses then a dangerous territory ruled by hundreds of robots determined to eliminate humans."
