Review Summaries
"Six months after Dorothy Gale returned from her trip to the Land of Oz, a lightning storm and a flood send her back to the fairyland with a talking hen named Billina. But Oz is not as Dorothy remembered it. A powerful magician known as the Nome King has conquered the Emerald City and turned all the Oz citizens into stone. Dorothy's friend the Scarecrow has been taken to a prison in the Nome King's mountain. To save her friend, Dorothy journeys to the Nome King with a band of new allies -- Tik-Tok, a mechanical man, Jack Pumpkinhead, a wooden man with a pumpkin for a head, and the Gump, a flying contraption that Dorothy created using the magical Powder of Life.
Unfortunately, the Nome King has turned the Scarecrow into an ornament for his collection. To save him, Dorothy and her friends agree to take part in a game where they will each get three chances to guess which ornament is the Scarecrow. But when the Nome King reveals that those who fail to guess correctly will become ornaments themselves, Dorothy's friends quickly are transformed into the Nome King's knick-knacks. Soon, only Dorothy is left to free her friends -- and save her beloved Land of Oz.
This adaptation of L. Frank Baum's The Land of Oz and Ozma of Oz boasts stunning set designs and faithful recreations of popular Oz characters. Although this movie is not a musical or as humorous as the classic MGM movie, it is nonetheless a rousing fantasy adventure with terrific actors. "
