In the Chimes of Big Ben #6 befriends a foreign agent who's been brought to the Village to reveal her secrets. Together they plot an escape. The new #2 (almost every week there's a new #2), seems blissfully unaware of their planned escape. They build a boat and escape to a cave where they hide in a box that they arrange to have taken to London. #6 is told that they're in Poland and the trip will take a few hours. When they get there they find themselves in the office of #6's old spy agency. His old boss, a pompous British guy with a ridiculous moustache, believes he's gone over to the other side. #6 only gets him to listen by promising to tell him why he resigned. But at that moment Big Ben chimes, and he realizes it's the same time as his watch--which is set one hour forward to Polish time. Guess what? #6 was really in the village the entire time. Analysis: This is one of the best episodes because it gets directly to the point--there's not some clever psychology ploy going on here in an effort to break #6; they're simply trying to fool him to directly get the information they're after. It all makes sense. That's why this episode is more credible than other ones (such as where they get him to run for #2 in an effort to break him in an effort to find out why he resigned....) | |||||
