Review Summary

The USA has always offered opportunity to repressed peoples of other lands. But it wasn't about to extend that to these creatures!

Around the world small groups of people scan space for signs of extra-terrestrial intelligence, but what are they supposed to do when they find it? And if it comes from only just beyond the orbit of Pluto and the senders are heading this way what should they do? Tell the President, that's what, even though it's a new President in the first week of office.

And what that President really, really doesn't want to hear is that there is a huge force of alien beings on the way and they're asking that North America be depopulated so they can take it over and live there.

Naturally, the answer is 'no way'. So the aliens demonstrate that they have the power to take whatever isn't given freely - in less than ten seconds they wipe the city of Portland, Oregon, off the map. The President decides, after countering strong objections in a more than ruthless way, to fight back, setting the world on a path that leads inevitably to the biggest air battle it has ever seen.
