Review Summaries
"In 'A Civil Campaign' there four plots bouncing around at the same time. In the first, Miles Vorkosigan, fresh from his first triumphant Imperial Auditor case (see 'Komarr') has returned to Barrayar to lend his hand to Lord Gregor's wedding. He is also plotting to win the hand of the lovely widow Ekaterin and to keep her away from all other suiters. Miles his also up to his elbows in political problems facing the Imperial Government. Clone/Brother Mark Vorkosigan has returned to Barrayar in pursuit of his beloved Kareen who has also come home for the wedding, but has failed to mention to her parents that she is in love with a Clone. Mark has also brought home a Scientist who has developed a new food source, that he hopes to make his fortune with. Cousin Ivan is finally starting to realize that all the available women he once thought were his for picking are being snatched up and married. He hears that one of former lovers is returning from Beta Colony and decides he should meet the shuttle. He gets a big surprise! "
Robert Belenzon, Resident Lois McMasters Bujold Scholar

"Miles Vorkosigan has a problem- he's found the woman he wants to marry, but she just lost a husband who had been emotionally stifling her for years. Ekaterin wants only to go back to school and not have to worry about men for a while, but they keep pushing their way into her life. Miles is determined to give her the space she needs, but at the same time, he's trying to figure out how to keep her all to himself. And his foster brother, Emperor Gregor of Barrayar, is getting ready to marry, and Miles is his second. Then Miles' brother (clone), Mark, comes back from Beta colony after his girlfriend, Kareen, comes back, and the two have to deal with her parents being difficult about the fact that Kareen loves him. In the end, everything works out, and Miles no longer has to worry that he'll be left holding the bag AND the Empire, as he is in line for the throne if anything happens to Gregor. "
