Review Summaries
"Fredric Brown was one of the quirkiest writers of the 40's and 50's. There are so many different minor subplots packed into this small book that it is almost impossible to describe them all. The "Rogue" in space is a sentient asteroid that ventures into the solar system and becomes aware of other life forms (humans) for the first time and ultimately interacts (favorably) with the human main character. However, "rogue" could also refer to the human main character, Crag, a violent criminal who has been offered a lot of money to steal a unique weapon for a deranged, power hungry politician. This weapon is a device which would cause the Earth to collapse upon itself. Crag later dies in a gun battle on another asteroid with this politician when he realizes what this politician is up to. He is revived and saved by the Rogue in Space, who decides to sweep up the entire asteroid belt into a planet, and invites Crag and his friends to come live on it. There's a lot more than that in the book. Everyone who likes their sci/fi a little quirky will love Fredric Brown, one of the greatest underappreciated authors of this genre."
